The training you received as a real estate agent taught you one thing.
Get more leads, thinking that the more people who messaged you, the better your chances of closing a sale.
Or posting more listings to stay active on Facebook. Keeping your page alive. That maybe your next listing would attract someone who's finally ready to buy.
Or boost more ads, fearing that If inquiries slowed down, tit felt obvious that you just needed to reach more people. That maybe this campaign simply didn't get in front of the right buyers yet.
Keep following up because somewhere inside all those conversations that you had is your next commission.
Honestly...
None of that advice was wrong.
In fact, if you cared about growing your business, it probably felt like the only thing you could do.
So you stayed consistent.
You posted your listings.
You spent more money on Facebook Ads.
You replied to almost every inquiry that came into your inbox because you couldn't afford to ignore someone who might become your next buyer.
Every Messenger notification felt like another opportunity.
Every "HM po?" message made you think,
"Maybe this one is different."
"Maybe this buyer is actually ready."
Because every day you delay figuring out who your high-intent buyers are is another day your next commission could be going to someone else.
So you answered their questions.
You sent them the price list.
You explained the payment terms.
You shared available units.
You even scheduled site viewings because you hoped that once they saw the property in person...
Everything would finally click.
Then a few hours...
Or sometimes a few days passed...
They stopped replying.
They told you they were still comparing.
They said they'd "get back to you."
Some disappeared completely.
And the frustrating part wasn't that they said no.
It was never really knowing whether they were serious from the very beginning.
So every new inquiry felt exactly the same.
You couldn't tell who was ready to reserve...
Who needed a little more guidance...
Or who was simply curious.
Which meant the safest thing to do was treat everyone like they might become your next commission.
Because what if the one person you ignored...
Was actually the buyer who was ready to purchase?
So you kept replying.
Kept following up.
Kept scheduling viewings.
Not because you enjoyed spending hours in Messenger...
But because you didn't have a better way to know who actually deserved your attention first.
And the longer you keep guessing which buyers deserve your attention, the more expensive every wrong conversation becomes. Because while you're busy answering questions from someone who was never going to buy, the buyer who's ready to reserve could already be talking to another agent.
